COERR Mae Sariang Organized Capacity Building in Social Work Skills for Camp-based Refugee Staff

   COERR Mae Sariang organized the training in two Mae Sariang camps, Mae Hong Son Province: Ban Mae La Oon Camp on February 7, 2018, for 17 Camp-based Refugee Staff (CBRS), consisting of 11 female and 6 male. Another training was held in Ban Mae Lama Luang camp on February 8, for 18 CBRS, 10 female and 8 male. The objectives were to have these community social workers review and increase their understanding in social work and code of conducts in order to use the knowledge and skills to work with the vulnerable persons especially elderly and children.

   These camp-based staff have possessed qualifications of eagerness to work with vulnerable children and elderlies. They love to pay home visit, interview cases and neighbors and get to know people to notice and record all necessary data. They use communication skills to acquire information which is essential for making good report for further procedure. CBRS have learned to integrate social work to child protection which require them to work directly with children, family, community and also with institutes that provide assistance.

   Trainer concluded their training activity with further contents as well as tips in acquiring skills in building relationship, interview and home visit which are important in social work.
